Summary
Peña Colorada is a Mexican company dedicated to the exploration, extraction and processing of iron ore and supplying the national steel industry. Founded in 1975 as a state-owned enterprise, it has operated as a private organization since 1991, jointly owned by ArcelorMittal and Ternium, each holding a 50% stake. Its operations include an open-pit iron mine in Minatitlán and a pelletizing plant in Manzanillo, both located in the state of Colima. The company produces 4.1 million tons of pellets and 0.4 million tons of iron concentrate annually, accounting for approximately 30% of the iron ore used in the national steel industry.

Paticajo Industrial Center in Minatitlán, Colima: Industrial complex located in the town of Paticajo, Minatitlán, which includes the Paste Plant, inaugurated in 2019 with an investment of over 850 million pesos. An expansion is currently underway to add a filtration plant that will improve tailings management.
Environmental Management Unit (UMA) in Minatitlán, Colima: Area dedicated to the conservation and restoration of native plant and animal species, ecological research, and plant production for reforestation.
