Main Leadership
Mario Grossi, Chief Executive Officer
Born, raised, and educated in Sudbury, Ontario, Mario Grossi is the founder, President and CEO of Technica Mining. The oldest of four sons to immigrant parents, Mario’s induction into entrepreneurialism and hard work came at an early age where he worked evenings, weekends, holidays and summers in the family’s industrial contracting business.
With a hunger to create his own legacy, Mario decided that studying business over engineering would add much more value to his future and is a proud graduate of Laurentian University with a Bachelor Degree in Commerce, graduating in 1996.
After a few years of studying mine backfill and travelling the world, Mario fell back on his true passion of underground mining and construction. In the fall of 1999, at just 25 years old, he founded Technica Mining. From humble beginnings of just a few employees, to growing at a team of over 500, Technica is proudly one of Canada’s own leading mining and construction companies.
With over 23 years of industry experience, the Team at Technica remains true to its founding core values as they strive to maintain a Zero-Harm workplace while setting the new standard in world class mining services.

A few of our Key Projects both Past and Present.
• Near Surface Contract Mining
• Contract Mining
- Contracted to complete 10,000 ft of lateral development, Ventilation upgrade installing new surface fans, heaters, underground exhaust booster stations, and all underground infrastructure construction in order to facilitate the mining of approximately 500,000 tons of Nickel/Copper Ore.
• Transition from Open Pit to Underground Extension Contract Mining
- Site fully set up and operated by Technica. Project involved 5300 ft of lateral development, all vertical development and construction to delivered approximately 400,000 tons of ore to surface
• Develop and Advanced Exploration
- Work involves project management of site, engineering design work, site set up, portal cut, lateral development, vertical development, and delivery of a 70,000 tons bulk sample and an additional 30,000 tons of sill Ore.
• Mine Development
• Phase 1 Project
- +3000 m of development, +900 m of Alimak Raising, km’s of reconditioning, Mine Logistics Management, Electrical Rehabilitation and Installations, Mine Mechanical Support, Shaft rehabilitation
• Mining at Depth Project
- 2,500 m of Lateral Development, Development of Large Excavations for future underground cooling plant, over 10,000 bags of shotcrete, Construction of Electrical Sub Stations, Refuge Stations, Sumps and Large Water Reservoirs
• Deep Development Project
- Development of a 2,400 m Downramp along with miscellaneous mine construction
• Construction / Mine Operation
• Mine Operations
- Responsible for all Surface and Underground Operations and infrastructure maintenance in order to facilitate the expansion of the Craig Mine – Onaping Depth Project.
• Construction Service Agreements
- 5 year construction services agreement to complete a wide range of infrastructure upgrades, mine rehabilitation, new construction, planned maintenance period (Shutdown) repairs.
• Off Shaft Optimization Project
- Removal and Installation of new Shaft Loading Pocket as well as full conveyor and chute in order to complete the muck circuit to surface.
• Crusher Station / Material Handling Circuit Construction
- Complete Construction of a new Crusher station and muck circuit, the work included to install all cranes, chutes, feeders, ventilation, and crusher, and grizzlies for Vale’s Totten Mine.
