What began as a specialized underground construction company has evolved into one of Canada’s largest privately-owned mining contractors, trusted by major mining companies, junior miners and everything in between. Main Leadership
Mario Grossi, Chief Executive Officer
Born, raised and educated in Sudbury, Ontario, Mario Grossi is the founder, President and CEO of Technica Mining. The oldest of four sons to immigrant parents, Mario’s induction into entrepreneurialism and hard work came at an early age working for the family’s industrial contracting business.
Excited to create his own legacy, Mario obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Laurentian University, graduating in 1996, and went on to found Technica Mining only three years later at the age of 25. Over the last 25 years, Mario has grown Technica from a small startup to one of Canada’s leading mining and construction companies with a first-class safety record.
Robert Yeamans, VP Corporate Development
Robert is a professional engineer with a Bachelor of Science from Mount Allison University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining from the Technical University of Nova Scotia. With extensive experience in both engineering and operations across several leading mining companies, Robert joined Technica in 2011 as a Project Manager overseeing a variety of mine development and construction projects. In 2019, he transitioned into a corporate development position driving Technica’s growth through geographical expansion and the introduction of new service offerings.
Robert has played a key role in building and nurturing partnerships with Indigenous communities in Ontario and Québec. Robert is also dedicated to continuously advancing the Canadian mining industry, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Mining Association and is a member of the advisory board for the Bharti School of Engineering at Laurentian. Jim Lundrigan, Chief Operating Officer
Jim Lundrigan joined Technica Mining as Chief Operating Officer in 2022, bringing over 35 years of experience in the mining industry. His career has spanned all aspects of mining, starting as a miner and advancing through various leadership roles, most notably as the leader of Glencore’s Nickel Rim South mine.
Jim is deeply committed to community development and strengthening local organizations, serving as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Science North and Dynamic Earth, the second-largest science center in Canada. His dedication to safety is evident in his 25-year involvement with Ontario Mine Rescue, where he served as Chair of the Technical Advisory Committee.

A few of our Key Projects, both past and present:
Bulk Sample
- Surface copper-nickel bulk sample
– Completed a 20,000-tonne surface bulk sample in Sudbury, Ontario – Project included full site mobilization, mine dewatering, bulk sample and demobilization within a 3-month project timeline
- Underground gold bulk sample
– Completed a 25,000-tonne underground bulk sample in Val d’Or, Québec. – Project included ramp and lateral development along with narrow vein mining of high-grade gold
Contract Mining
- Open Pit Mining
– Perform a long-term production drilling contract in support of an open pit mine in Sudbury, Ontario – Project includes the supply and operation of four large production drills
- Contract Mining
– Contracted to complete 10,000 ft of lateral development along with ventilation upgrades which consisted of installing new surface fans, heaters and underground exhaust booster stations, as well as all underground infrastructure construction in order to facilitate the mining of approximately 500,000 t of nickel/copper ore
Mine Development
- Phase 1 Project
– Completion of 3000+ m of development, 900+ m of Alimak raising, several kms of reconditioning, mine logistics management, electrical rehabilitation and installations, mine mechanical support, shaft rehabilitation
- Mining at Depth Project
– Completion of 2,500 m of lateral development, development of large excavations for future underground cooling plant, over 10,000 bags of shotcrete, construction of electrical sub stations, refuge stations, sumps and large water reservoirs
- Deep Development Project
– Development of a 2,400 m down-ramp along with miscellaneous mine construction
Construction / Mine Operation
- The installation of pastefill distribution systems including lateral and borehole piping
- Rebuilding of loading pockets and truck chutes
- Construction of refuge stations, sumps, powder magazines and switch rooms
